A Chester Springs Kitchen Facelift and Renovation
The owners of this Chester Spring home have four active boys, which meant they needed a functional kitchen that worked well for hosting friends and family. They decided to replace their builder-grade tile and wooden floors with wide hickory planks, as well as updating their existing kitchen without undergoing a full gut renovation.
Initially, Miller Residential replaced nearly the entire first floor of the home with new Naturally Aged Flooring in a rich stain in the finish “Union Square.” An additional layer of plywood was added to match the thickness of the previous materials. The new flooring was replaced in the kitchen, foyer, hallways, bathroom, dining and living rooms.
A larger island was installed with an extra sink and additional storage for cooking and eating. The homeowners decided to repaint the existing cabinets, and have new cabinet drawers and door fronts in the next project. The main sink cabinet was replaced due to water damage.
Marie Weaverling of Weaverling Designs worked with our team to reorient the layout, moving the kitchen’s double oven closer to the stove and sink area, adding a beverage fridge, additional shelving, and giving it a smoother layout. The fridge had an awkward gap between the cabinets and the top. Miller replaced the smaller cabinets with larger ones above the fridge and added a trim frame to give it a custom look. A new tile backsplash, champagne brass sink faucets, and updated appliances were also installed to give this kitchen a classic style and functionality for their family’s needs.
“It’s a better layout and prep area for entertaining guests and preparing meals,” says Grace James from Miller Residential. “They were so happy with the way it turned out.”
